How did it end up like this?

There were three of us in the office today. 

I had stacks to do, but the other folks were waiting for orders to process them. 

One of them left about 2.30, and then the last chap came down and sat in my office, and while I was sitting counting. (I count for a living). 

He kept chatting, had his jacket on ,and I said "off you go - I'll just finish up here, and I'll lock up.  

And he said, "no no, I'm not leaving you here alone on the last day of the year.", and kept chatting. 

So it was that I had to shut my screens down, save my work, and up and leave. 

And now I'm glad I did, because the sun hadn't set, it was almost high tide, and the wind was blowing a hoolie. 

The waves here were actually blowing up and on to the road.  

But getting out the car. Oh dearie me.  That wasn't so good. I had to pop into the supermarket, on the way, and squealed with the cold as I ran from the car to the doorway. 

It was chaos in there. 

What is it with Humans?   The shop will be shut for one day. ONE DAY ONLY.  WHy do you need to buy 3 time as much shopping today???? Why????
