A murky day at Ullswater

We had friends arrive yesterday to see the new year in with us, they've come all the way from Surrey, so we really wanted to show them some of the Lake District. 

Met up with Emma, Sam & Gail at Rheged for a coffee, then after we'd seen them, drove to Pooley Bridge for lunch, and down towards Aira Force. It never seemed to get light, but I did manage this shot looking across the lake to the passing ferry. I thought the colour pop worked to show the warmth of the ferry contrasting with the general murk elsewhere.

Rained in Keswick in the evening, so after a lovely dinner in a pub, we saw the new year in at home with some well chilled fizz.
