CHICHESTER !

We were here for a visit to the cathedral & a general.look round.
O/J/A& the dogs (Daisy & Evie) went into the pub whilst KJD/ the Rev & I went into the Cathederal ( me on my scooter) the tour guide was such an interesting learned man . He told us about the stained glass window in the south transept of the church. Apparently in the civil war the window was smashed as it was thought the depictions should be of God's creation & not human beings ! But a lady named Anna who died in the 1800 'left instructions for her son & husband to give the equivalent of 1 million £ to replace the stained glass window. On the left hand side you see the New Testament & on the right the Old Testament , therefore reading it from right to left, not as we would today from left to right! The window was replaced in 1890. It's a lovely cathedral , I had been to before but like NT Gardens you can always find new things at each visit!
