Chester FC 1 AFC Telford United 1

Happy New Year everyone.

Anyone expecting anything different from me in 2023 will be disappointed as I start with Chester's first game of the year against Telford. It wasn't a brilliant performance against a team that are bottom of the table and haven't won away for two years. They have improved a bit in recent games but their time wasting tactics were depressing,  reminiscent of Gloucester earlier in the season.

Telford finished the game with 9 men having one player sent off midway through the 2nd half and then another with 2 minutes to go for time wasting. Chester equalised in the 92nd minute so it was a close run thing.

As well as the man of the match voted for by the sponsors the Chester media team award a bottle for their player of the match (different from the main winner). They gave a bottle of Madri to full back Alex Brown who was playing his 2nd game for the club after leaving Boston. I actually thought he should have got the main award and Phil, who presented the award agreed with me.
