Welcome 2023
We spent a lovely evening on New Year's eve with 6 of our long-time friends, all going back at least 40+ years. One friend came down with a virus so she and her husband did not come. There is drawback to having each couple bring part of the dinner. If someone cancels at the last minute, a part of dinner is missing. Our sick friend was supposed to bring the vegetables, but fortunately we had plenty of salad and we certainly didn't starve.
Our hosts had set up the dining room with with the fine china and crystal so it was quite beautiful and dinner was delicious. After dinner we went down to the basement where we could play basketball, ping pong and air hockey. (our hosts have a few school age grandsons). I am sure it was quite humorous to see us oldsters playing and I'm sure our kids would have had a good laugh. We had fun, that's all that matters.
Before midnight, we headed back upstairs to watch the ball come down in Time's Square. After a few pictures, a little champagne, and hugs all around and because we are old, we were all headed home by 12:30 and in bed by 1.
During dinner we all noted that none of us have had COVID yet. Five doctors, one nurse and two non medical wives and no Covid. Considering that just about everyone else we know has had it, I think we are quite lucky and very careful.
Happy New Year!
