Frontage
The weather this week is forecast to be changeable except today so we decided to go for a walk with Molly from Hexham along the River Tyne to the North and South confluence and then on to a small village called Warden. I even thought of a potential Blip or two along the way. But the best laid plans…
The cafe we thought we’d try is closed (Bank Holiday), the lovely pub there doesn’t serve scones (humm). So we decided to stay in Hexham, find a cafe open (yay) and go for an albeit shorter walk around the Sele (pronounced seal). Opposite the cafe was this shop which looks like it is being restored. The glass sign says W Pattinson Dispensing Chemist. Recently it was a small Boots but it closed. The sign may be taken out but I rather hope new signage will be fitted over it conserving the copper plate one. The addition is of Hexham Abbey from the Sele, the Eggar factory spews its usual plume. That factory is the biggest industrial employer in Northumberland. Everyone I know who works there speaks well of the company which I find refreshing these days.
