Loch Katrine
Been looking forward to today with the best weather forecast for the whole week! Toyed with going up Ben Vorlich, but I felt a bit whacked out yesterday (head stil recovering from a migraine) and it was a good job we didn't as we weren't prepared for the amount of snow on the Trossachs!
Drive up was beautiful, you can see so much more of the hills when they are covered in snow. We decided to have a wander on Loch Katrine which would be an easy walk and obviously very pretty. Spotted a Peregrine falcon in a tree having a good shout right at the beginning which was a bonus. Enjoyed the very flat road for around 3 miles when it started to snow lightly and we could see some clouds coming down from the higher hills. Being totally paranoid about driving in the snow, we turned back and decided to eat our sandwiches in Callander. There was no need to worry with no significant snow, but I'd have been totally stressed if we've had carried on walking.
When in Callander, you have to get a sandwich from Mhor Bread, it's just one of the rules. Today was brie, cranberry and fig and was greatly enjoyed by us and the noisy gulls in the park. Tried to get a bit to the gooseanders who were super brave for gooseanders and came quite near to our bench, but alas the gulls just had the edge. Finished off the trip out with a rhubarb frangipan because it would be rude to not also get cake whilst you're there.
