Amandine's Plot Treize

Repotting Amaryllis bulbs

It's still so incredibly wet - I'll have to check if the pond is overflowing (scary thought!) later but it's best to leave the plot alone for the time being to prevent compaction of heavy clay.

I'm working from home today and it's lunchtime. Both of my amaryllis bulbs have been refusing to grow new stems. I thought repotting with fresh compost (and a seashell mulch to stop pesky fungus gnats laying eggs) might do the trick. They seem to have healthy roots so everything crossed.

Unlike some people, I'm never on a Christmas Day deadline for amaryllis flowers. Last year, our 'Rilona' was in bloom in early February, around my husband's birthday, and it was a real treat!
