These woolly coasters have been knitted with herdwick wool.
Herdwick lambs are born black and as they grow, their fleece lightens to a dark brown. After the young, dark brown sheep have been sheered, they turn a steely grey colour which continues to lighten with age.
My friend who made the coasters was staying in a cottage next to the field where the sheep were. I think that makes my coasters very special .
