Stormy clouds

The weather wasn't playing for the last day of my holiday, so I spent much of the day painting the office.  I really like the colour though some of my edges are a bit rough, feels good to have it done.

Later afternoon I headed out for some fresh air.  The fading light wasn't very conducive to blipping, but I did have a good blether with a gentleman who told me about his friend who would take photos on underwater dives in Singapore and the south pacific islands.  From there we discussed his career in the RAF, how some officers can be numptys and the images from the James Webb telescope.  It was a really pleasant chat!  But don't move to Scotland, they all hate the English...

Spent a lot of time listening to podcasts today and was quite moved by a Hardcore History which looked at the theory that some events in history were affected by how (mainly badly) we as a species have treated our children.  I was touched the most by a quote that was read out at the end by an author who was defending the boomer generation against accusations that they had not lived up to their promise of changing the world.  He said that what his generation had achieved was raising the best generation of children who have ever lived, and that they would be the ones that changed the world, through empathy, compassion and collaboration.  When I think of some of the things that the younger generation are doing if feels like there might be a grain of truth in that and it gives me some hope.  It was a great epidsode, if sometimes harrowing like all Hardcore History.  Link is here if anyone is interested - they cost a few dollars per show but are well worth it, though the most recent ones are free and also very worth a listen.
