Thank you NHS
My symptoms were much the same and this was day 4. I tried calling the GP but there were no appointments for today. I decided I was concerned enough to call NHS24. They answered fairly quickly and decided I should go to A&E. An unexpected afternoon but the tests were all OK and I will keep an eye on things for a couple of weeks.
From the two staff I spoke to at NHS24 to the 6 different staff I saw in the hospital, everyone of them was fantastic! Kind, caring and compassionate. It was busy. They were working their socks off - holding the hands of elderly ladies waiting on an X-ray, holding an oxygen tank for a baby, answering questions and it goes on and on. I’m so upset at what Westminster are doing to the NHS. NHS Scotland are struggling too. I also think we all need to think about lifestyle - struggling to breathe and having low oxygen levels and saying “I’ve only had X number of cigarettes” isn’t good (that wasn’t me by the way!!). I can’t really contemplate not having the NHS.
