Industrial archaeology?!

The Sierra Helada……today a Natural Park, where we walk to reach the Albir Lighthouse, was once an industrial area.

Ochre was mined here; taken to the coast, and loaded on to boats.
The Ochre was used in the textile industry, as a red dye for wool

And there are still some signs visible to show its earlier industrial importance

Todays Blip photo, signposts the small rocky path down to the old mine.
