Praying for Damar

I couldn’t sleep through the horror so many football fans watched in real time last night. To watch as 24-year old Bills player, Damar Hamlin, fell backwards like he did, it was immediately obvious that he didn’t suffer from an ordinary injury. Seeing his teammates, these huge, tough guys falling into each other’s arms crying…

We didn’t know in that moment that he had suffered a cardiac arrest and that they had used CPR for 8 minutes before he was put into the ambulance. We learned today that they had to perform it again when he reached the hospital.

His family has said he’s been sedated but it sounds more like an induced coma. He remains intubated and in critical condition. As a fan, I know how I feel. But I can’t imagine what his parents, who were at the game, are going through. Neither can I imagine what his teammates are dealing with. They have to take the field again on Saturday. Don’t know how they will be able to do it.
