First Light
Sunrise is only a second or two earlier than it was on the solstice last month; this morning it was at 8:42 am. Sue and I were on the beach at 8:25 and the emerging light under the last of the night sky to the east as far as the eye could see was a wonderful mix of colours.
The tide was out beyond the groyne but the sea was full and there wasn’t the walk almost to Fife to find some depth that there sometimes is when the tide is low. It didn’t feel too cold either- maybe we are acclimatising to the cold water.
Although sunrise is still late, the day has lengthened noticeably at sunset which today was almost 4 pm. It has been a damp day with some light showers but a mild still one. On the whole, for getting around unscathed, I prefer this weather to freezing conditions and icy pavements, not to mention saving on heating.
It seems that many countries in Europe are experiencing ridiculously high temperatures for this time of year
