Volunteer Park Conservatory

We thought we’d walk in another neighborhood today so went up to Volunteer Park (while the cleaners were here!) .where the Asian Seattle Art Museum is,, but not open today ( I thot it was)  so we  walked through this very cool conservatory.    I’m sorry the 2 cars were there but you get the idea.   It was the first structure built in the new Olmstead Park, completed in 1912 (with 3426 panes of glass) and modeled after the Chrystal Palace in London.    You can read more here if you are interested. 
The statue is William Seward the Sec’y of State when Alaska was annexed to the US (2nd extra)  Our boys went to Seward School in our neighborhood and there is another Park named after him in Seattle.

Later we had a short visit with friend (blipper) Mikewho at last is home with her new hip from her wild adventure in Paris …. Photo in the extra…she’s doing great and will be even better after a good nights sleep in her own bed…..her sister is here to help.  whew.
