Capital journey
We'd arranged to take Daughter Two back to Edinburgh today as the trains were all off, due to the strike! Unfortunately as soon as we left at 9am the rain began and the first part of the journey was not pleasant. The road alongside Loch Awe has suffered from flooding for many years, as long as I can remember, in fact, and I'm in the mood to make a fuss. The road is alongside and just above the waters of Loch Awe, probably the closest and most efficient drain in Argyll, and yet nothing is ever done. For many years the 'Danger, floods' sign stayed out permanently. At one point a long puddle along the roadside, halfway across the other lane, was approximately two feet from a deep ditch! Honestly!
Anyway it got better as we drove east, as it usually does, and we made a brief halt at the lochside car park beside Loch Lubnaig for a coffee. Just along from our car three ladies were drying off after presumably going for a swim, so I went over for a chat. Yes, they had been swimming and were members of a wild swimming group whose name I have unfortunately already forgotten. Not the same group whose members swim around Oban and elsewhere - they are the Bluetits! I was sorry to have been too late to photograph them in the water, but they agreed to pose for their picture on land. I love it when Blip material pops up just when needed, as with Rosie yesterday!
By the time we approached the outskirts of Scotland's capital the sun was out and it stayed out while we had lunch at Daughter Two's and set off for home just after 1.30. Not a bad journey home - at least it didn't rain - and we arrived home just as it was getting dark
