The Christmas tree has been cut up and the branches put in a sack to go to the recycling centre. The decorations are away in boxes and only the nativity set remains to celebrate the arrival of the Magi on this Feast of Epiphany. No doubt there will be some Christmas trees thrown out on road verges especially as there are no local authority kerbside uplifts or collections of garden bins which are not due to resume again until mid March. Today I found a discarded Christmas tree and a wreath beside the road. I left the tree and took the ornaments off the wreath and will use them to augment my next wreath.
Nearby Musselburgh and some other local authorities are using old Christmas trees to reinforce vulnerable sea shores.
