Something of a phenomenon, baby

Saturday.

I woke at 7. and contemplated going to work.

Himself was snoring, but I knew if I moved he'd disturb and tell me not to go.

So I lay and browsed the phone for the next hour, and snoozed.

We finally dragged our asses out of bed at 10.30.   Shameless.

We still had all the Christmas Cardboard to go to the recycling Centre, so we booked a slot and loaded the car.

We have a booking system now - you can actually book a slot about half an hour before you go - we tend to book one while we are at the allotment, and leave and drop.

Anyhoos. - we got down; the regulation man sitting at the gate, with his iPad, checking the bookings.  and he waved us through without much interaction between us or the car registration.

There were another four cars, all in various stages of unloading.

The Cardboard was shut for compression; the general was blocked and the chap who had blocked it was apologising profusely to the one man on active duty (as opposed to sitting at the gate).

I think one or other of them was contemplating climbing in to sort it.

Then the Recycle man had to open the Carboard bin, then he had to open the "Misc. Item Bin.

As he walked past me, he said "I'm on my own, he's sitting there with his ipad, he's only just come back out, because he said he couldn't get his ipad wet.  I can't do everything.  There are loads of skips".

I caught his arm, and said "no one is in a hurry; you take your time, we aren't putting you under pressure.

And he turned and looked at me and said, "aye but he is just sitting there, and I'm doing everything.

I looked at him and I put my other arm out and took him into a hug.

"you are doing great job, thank you".

And he looked at me and Said "that was just what I needed".  and off he toddled to open another gate, but this time with a smile on his face.

I'm still contemplating what made me reach out.

I'm still wary of touching people I KNOW after Covid.

But he needed something.

Then we shopped and then we came home.

And I went down to work.

And I did what I needed to do in 1 hour and thirty minutes. I was so chuffed with myself.

Good Day.
