Palheiro gardens

Caught the no 37 bus up to the gardens this morning, Bus journeys on this island are amazing and not for the feint hearted, how the drivers manage up and down these steep roads with hairpin bends I do not know, particularly exciting when you meet the refuse lorry coming towards you and you have to reverse on a bend. 
We love these gardens they are so peaceful and there’s always something new flowering whatever the time of the year.
The extra shows how they repair the pavements around here, bet they are good at jigsaws!
Back in Funchal we went to the English Church again, this time for a classical rock concert.  Arrangements of music by Queen, Metallica, Pink Floyd and others played by 4 very talented musicians.  There is a programme of concerts here daily, this was the first time we’ve been to one, we will certainly go again.
As we were down in the town we thought we’d have another look at the lights and have a meal.  We went to a restaurant on the main avenue and ordered our meal, the waiter brought us completely the wrong thing (we’d ordered espetada which is steak cooked on a skewer, a very common dish in this area) prawns and squid arrived instead.  We pointed out the mistake and he took it away, then the original waitress came back with the food and insisted we should have it and eat it!  At that point we paid for our drinks and left.  She was very rude. We made our way back on the bus to a Chinese restaurant which had good reviews and although they were very busy and we had quite a wait at least we got a good meal and very good service.
