EWBG Day
Today I took youngest son N to find out what England & Wales Blind Golf charity could offer at their Charity Day hosted by Trafford Golf Centre, which includes Dinofalls Crazy Golf….. some of you will have seen it from the Ring Road around Manchester close to the Trafford Centre.
Really good productive day, both socially & from a golf perspective. People with sight loss, both golfers & non golfers, got to try out, with coaching from professionals, using top tracer machines to track distance’s and then go on to the crazy golf if you wished afterwards. N stayed put preferred to practice. Granada News we’re there to record a piece for the local news tonight.
N is keen to take up golf now he knows he can see the ball well enough to strike it. He won the driving competition for the non golfers, drove the ball 159 yards, very straight too! He said it’s because he doesn’t lift his head to track the ball, cos he knows he can’t see it lol!
He has his first proper lesson more locally next weekend, his dad, brother & best buddy all play and are happy to have him play with them….. finally a sport it seems he is going to be able to pursue :-D
We were like a comedy duo today though, he couldn’t see people approaching us and I couldn’t tell him or introduce us as I’ve completely lost my voice……but we managed! A fun day
