Sunday afternoon……….
………relaxation.
We went to Birmingham Vineyard church this morning.
It was very full.
After the service we both chatted to different people over the usual teas/coffees/soft drinks.
I got talking to two of the Cantonese people, one of whom had only arrived here 4 months ago.
Interesting to discover their journeys to the UK from leaving Hong Kong.
There is now a sizeable community of them in the church. Indeed, listening to a programme on Radio 4 earlier this morning at 7:10, a lot of churches here have also had similar influxes.
Our church has employed a Cantonese pastor to work alongside our staff team.
There must’ve been really heavy rain whilst we were there, because when we are almost home we drive under a railway bridge, and there was a mini flood which had collected on the dip in the road under the arch.
It was a case of take it slowly!
It is now going on towards teatime. I love to sit and read in this corner by the fire and I have another pre-used book from the charity shop, by Kate Morton, called “The Distant Hours”.
Glancing at “The Times” earlier I find it all incredibly sad about the intense publicity about what is to be an explosive account of how ( does he still call himself Prince?) Harry views his own flesh and blood.
In the meantime, I’ve just had a mug of coffee, and a “Wispa”. Stephen got it in church as he was chatting to someone he knew who told him he’d had so much chocolate for Christmas that he was giving most of it away!
My gain! (No don’t mention the obvious riposte to that! ;-) )
Soon be teatime.
