A Fox, a Kitten, and Band-Aids

I went to Esmés for awhile today, and gave her Christmas gifts I was too sick to give earlier. She cried, "It's a fox!" when she unwrapped the fox tucked into a cute bag. I also gave her a book, "This Book is Not About a Kitten," that we loved reading. At the end of the story a girl gets to take the kitten home. This girl was pictured on many of the pages, but only in the final page did Esme spot the three band-aids on her arms. Band-aids are still Esmé's favorite things, so I was surprised she hadn't spotted them earlier in the story. So we checked it out; early in the story, there were no band-aids on her arms, then when they were close to catching the kitten, the girl was only shown reaching under a parked car, so you couldn't see her arms, and when she picked up the kitten to put it into a box, the kitten was terrified with all claws showing and desperate to get away, so, aha! that's when the girl got scratched! Esmé said the girl put on the band-aids after she took the kitten home.
