His Will, His Ways
It was so good to come back together at FBC this morning, to lift our hearts and voices in praise and worship to God and hear God's Word preached so faithfully. Yes, we started the new year in this same place just last week, but today we resumed our Grow Groups where we get down to being the church body on a more personal level. When we came together for the service, with the choir, orchestra and our faithful accompanists, the congregational songs seemed more invigorated. The choir and orchestra did an energetic version of "The Lord Is The Strength Of My Life" after which the congregation sang a couple more songs before Pastor Wes turned our attention to James 4:13-17. He reminded us of a poem (Invictus) that many of us were familiar with from our school days that ended with the lines, "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul. Stirring poem, but not a good way to live the Christian life! We don't know what our future holds, not even from moment to moment, but God does and He has a plan for us and a way to go that will get us to the best place for us if the posture of our heart is one of acknowledging God's sovereignty over ALL things from the magnitude of the universe to the details of my life. He cautioned us against both, over-planning with no thought of where God might be leading us and doing nothing without seeking God's counsel. Pastor Wes had much more to say about seeking this balance in our lives. so that we can share the good news of Jesus with those around us and you can see it and hear it all in the livestream........
