Colorado Springs glimpsed through the branches of larch in the Asian part of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

While not exactly the second largest city in Colorado after Denver, Colorado Springs has the feeling of the second largest city with its skyscrapers and urban sprawl.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is a great cultural institution but its hard to visit all the endangered animals ironically all with excellent views of urban sprawl and not have a pang of sadness of what humanity has done to the world as we cover it with cities and destroy fellow organisms to the point of extinction.

Colorado was once a great sparsely populated wilderness just 150 years ago no its home to 5 million people.
