Tropical Cyclone Hale is coming
Well, the tail end is. We’re told to expect it tonight and to batten down the hatches. I just feel for the people on the Coromandel Peninsula and in Gisborne on the east coast. They’ve already been battered by rain over the last few days and are absolutely sodden. Winds over 130kph and 200ml of rain are expected. It will be interesting to see what actually occurs overnight.
We set out to go for a walk just before 7.30am, but as we left the building it was raining so we turned back and decided to have breakfast instead. After breakfast I had to make a call to arrange for some mobility equipment that had been given to Mum to use after she broke her hip a second time to be collected. Although it took some time, it ended successfully, so that’s something else to tick off the list.
We did get out for a walk late morning and as we walked along Kohimarama Beach, we noticed a cruise ship steaming into port. It’s called the Star Breeze and wasn’t due in until tomorrow. We decided it must be coming in early to avoid the forecast bad weather.
My sister and brother and their spouses are coming for dinner tomorrow night, so we spent some time planning the menu and writing the shopping list, then MrMacD set off to do the shopping. I stayed home and started ploughing through messages and emails that I’ve received and have ignored up until now. It’s very satisfying to be able to mark that off the mental list.
I’m still behind with dipping into blip friends journals, which I really enjoy, but I’ll visit again soon.
The blip was taken on Kohimarama Beach as we walked by.
