wild & precious life

Visits

Returned to my hometown today to visit mum & dad & go out for a meal. It was nice but these visits always bring up lots of difficult, complex feelings. Obviously, we always see a decline in dad each time due to his dementia but he was very loving & seemed content, although he said he felt very cold in his body throughout our time there. We've ordered him an electric throw to hopefully arrive tomorrow.

On the return, came back a different route so as to call in on our daughter at uni. She had hoped to come with us to see her grandparents but deadlines are looming and she's studying hard. We had a cuppa and a piece of delicious homemade vegan banana cake. (Blip = daughter's teddy as I'd forgotten to blip when I was with my parents).

We got back home very late but decided to unwind and watch Harry's interview. The dogs were very pleased to see us (Dan had looked after them well throughout the day). Next time, I'll take them as dad loves dogs and they sense his vulnerability and become very gentle.
