From Lavvy to Restaurant
Former public conveniences at the Water of Leith bridge at Canonmills, Edinburgh have been re-developed to form an upmarket restaurant called 'The Tollhouse'.
Similarly in London From Gentleman's Loo to Wine Bar ! in Guilford Place, Bloomsbury, London. This wine bar sits in a 120-year-old, Grade II building on Historic England's "at risk" register. Founders Andy Bell and Jayke Mangion have managed to preserve wooden panels from the original stalls, and have gone so far as to upholster the Victorian urinals, using them in some places as the backing for seats. Bell and Mangion have also kept the original marble flooring and tiling on the walls.
