Sometimes described as the Canary Wharf of the North, Spinningfields in Manchester's city centre is a large business, retail and residential area. Just off Deansgate between Quay Street and Bridge Street it takes its name from Spinningfield, a street which originally ran from Deansgate. Numerous residential developments are located in the area offering contemporary city living. Top fashion designer brands have stores here, and upmarket bars and restaurants are popular with the many office workers who are based in the high-rise shimmering tower blocks that overlook the area.
