St Finan's Isle
We paddled out to St Finan's Isle, on Loch Shiel today. Alfie a bit happier in the boat and sat up and took in his surroundings.
The island was amazing - carpeted in a sea of bluebells and the smell was incredible. Great place for a picnic and not another soul around.
Once we'd got back to the car we decided to head up a footpath to Kinloch Moidart as we thought Alfie needed to stretch his legs after being in the boat. The map had 'The seven men of moidart' marked on it as a point of interest so we decided to have a look, thinking it was probably some standing stones or something. It turned out to be a lot further than it looked on the map and our afternoon stroll turned into an 11km hike. The seven men were (past tense) seven beech trees planted to mark the spot where some King landed ages ago (I had lost interest by this point) with his six buddies, but there were only 2 original trees left and the others were just stumps! How disappointing and we had walked all that way just to see that! Got home late, starving and knackered!
