Jolly white giant

I love sweetcorn (the jolly green giant) but I detest asparagus aka Spargel here in DE. White spargel is apparently the best thing ever (if you're German) It is currently spargel season and therefore spargel is everywhere, the markets stalls overflow with it, the (not) supermarkets have special displays of food items to go with spargel and all restaurants have extra special spargel dishes on their menus. There was concern in the German press a few weeks ago because the spargel season was late in starting due to the lack of spring - didn't bother me one jot (as I'm sure you can imagine) my only concern is that the spargel season might now run longer to make up for time lost.
