Collapsing sofa arm ...

... Mr SC lent on the arm of the sofa and went through a hole, which we didn't expect after 1 month!

Called out the 'well known retailer' (who always seems to have a sale on), admittedly they came out quite quickly to fix it, only to find that the armrest is made of cardboard!!!!! The chap said it's normal for sofas to have a wooden 'skeleton' for the arm and cardboard on top.

I was stunned, but it's been reinforced now with wood and seems to be okay so far. Fingers crossed it lasts and we don't have to call them back.
