Monnow Bridge
It's rained almost all day which put paid to plans for a walk. This weeks W-I-D-E on Wednesday theme being 'bridge' I suggested a drive to Bristol to photograph the Severn Bridge but the A48 bridge was shut when we got to Chepstow! It's normally shut for high winds but as it wasn't windy it must have been down to maintenance.
After a look around a garden centre, we headed back into Monmouth (South Wales) which is just down the road from our house. It has one of the most unique bridges in the UK - the Monnow Bridge over the River Monnow is the only surving fortified medieval bridge in the UK. It dates to 1272AD.
After a coffee in Monmouth and picking up my favourite sausages from the Butchers, it was back home. I've no intention of going back out today, More rain forecast tomorrow!
