Rathen Kirkyard

The ruins of medieval St Etheran's kirk basking in winter sunshine. The kirkyard is the burial place of Edward Grieg's great-great grandparents.(See extra) His great grandfather father emigrated to Norway where he was employed at the British Consulate in Bergen. It is said that he crossed the North Sea in a fishing boat twice a year to attend communion at St Etheran's.
