A crochet kind of day...
Alan was up early this morning (by 9am! Unheard of!) as he was starving! A good sign :-)
He had another restless night but wasn't awake as much as he has been. His mouth still looks really sore, which I expect it will do for a while yet, but at least he was willing to drink milk today. He's also had a load of tummy milk and hasn't been sick so that's another positive. I am clinging on to each tiny positive sign and declaring it a victory!
Blake arrived at 7.00pm and it's a few days since he's seen Alan and he says he thinks he's looking much better than when he was last here, so that's good too.
As ever when Alan's not great I can't set my mind to much, so retreated to the studio.
I sealed the second slate painting I completed the other day (pic in extras. It's not for anyone, just for practice) and did a little painting to use up the left over paint (I might blip that later in the week if I am stuck for a blip :-)
Once that was done I spent a little while with Alan, although he was trying to watch (what seemed to me) an awful film called Step Brothers with Will Ferrell, so I took the hint and left him to it!
David and Lola ditched their morning walk because of the atrocious weather (heavy rain and strong winds) but nipped out to Gleneagles moor mid afternoon during a little break in the weather. They cut it slightly short as David could see the rain coming over the hills and made it in the back door just as the heavens opened again.
Still looking for a task to lose myself in no not the ironing I crocheted for a little while. Seven more granny squares to go and I will be ready to join them up and start on the blanket border. I ordered myself a new lap tray before Christmas and I laughed when I say how it matched my current project. Must have been crocheting these squares when I ordered it and subliminally chose that pattern :-)
We have friends coming for dinner on Saturday night who we've not seen since before covid. Really looking forward to seeing them. It's two of David' ex-colleagues from his days with the Royal Bank of Scotland, and their spouses. Until covid interrupted our get togethers, we'd been taking turns at hosting each other for dinner for almost 30 years. Lots of water under the bridge in that time! Can't wait to hear all their news.
Making lentil and ham soup (because it's a favourite of theirs) followed by chicken breasts stuffed with mozzarella, basil and sun-dried tomatoes and wrapped in parma ham, boiled baby potatoes with butter and chives, and roasted Mediterranean vegetables. Making another toffee apple crumble to finish.
PS Thank you for all your concern and wonderful comments re. Alan yesterday xx
