Snicket
Today I was a lady who lunches, meeting up with my friend and BSBI recorder for Northamptonshire in Stamford. I arrived early so had a chance to look at the shops (so much nicer than Peterborough) and wander through the town.
Stamford has more listed buildings than any other town in England, and also has a complex network of snickets and alleyways which I find fascinating. I also love the many regional names for these paths - ginnel, twitchel, twitten, wynd and snickelway to name but a few.
We both really enjoyed meeting up - usually we only see each other on field trips, but lunch gave us a chance to chat more widely. We've agreed that we must try and meet up more regularly in the coming year.
On my way home I picked up Ben who spent the rest of the afternoon entering data for my accounts, which need to be submitted very soon! This was really helpful and allowed me to make more progress on my latest report.
While he was with us I tripped at the bottom of our stairs and managed to ram my middle left finger into the wooden riser. I don't think its broken but I currently have a splint on it which is very inconvenient!!
