Smoking Flame

While searching for water drop tips on YouTube I came across a video on "Creative fire and smoke photos" by Andrew Lanxon which I just had to try out.

Basically this is an image of a flaming match and some images of smoking matches (a flaming match doesn't smoke!). I loaded the images as layers in Photoshop with the flaming match as base layer and the smoking ones above using the lighten blend mode. The layers were aligned and masking used to tidy up, voila!  Andrew only used one smoke layer in his image, but my matches didn't smoke very much!   A bit of fun on yet another dreary wet day.
