Human factors
Otherwise known as heuristic traps. Serious internal battle as to whether or not to be on the water with a team I'd been asked to loosely help out with.
On one hand, not my game and not my place to speak into it too strongly.
On the other, better to be in it, prevention is better than cure.
Enjoyed being back in my kayak on some decent water. Didnt enjoy having to do a (hopefully not to brutal!) bit of a take over.
After the year gone. 3 fatal accidents (+ 1 still unknown outcome) where they did literally everything right but it still went wrong, it feels pretty uncomfortable to watch folks knowingly choose poor desisions. Knowingly pull people who don't know better into potentially serious consequences. Knowingly ignore nudges from experienced people.
99% of people are fine, 99% of the time of course.
"Climb if you will, but remember that courage and strength are nought without prudence, and that a momentary negligence may destroy the happiness of a lifetime Do nothing in haste, look well to each step, and from the beginning think what may be the end." Edward Whymper
