APOPO hero rats !

Here is one of the famous land mine seeking rats … Sophea… she’s done her time and is now retired and enjoys ( her write up states ) snacks , daily scratches from kind people and having fun .
Eve has told us that the retired rats are treated like tiny gods. APOPO hero rats are a non profit organisation and also help some of the amputees get their new limbs . It’s absolutely fascinating.
The rats are too light to set a land mine off . On a really sad note there are still thousands of land mines dotted around Cambodia, these rats are quite frankly AWESOME . They are giant African pouch rats . Highly intelligent and love to please , so a bit like a sheep dog ….
