Inspired by the trunk of a tree.

This tree trunk, covered in moss, lichen, ferns and creeping Ivy looks as if it belongs in a rain forest. Perhaps it does.
According to ecologists, ‘rainforest’ is land receiving more than 1400 mm of rain each year and so Cumbria has been identified as hot spot for fragments of temperate rainforest. Efforts are now being made to identify, protect and extend them.
This specimen is growing unassumingly right by the roadside between Windermere and Bowness.
