From a distance
A walk in the hills with MrM this afternoon - the sun was shining and it would be a shame not to make the most of it. So we walked up round the side of Humbleton Hill and on to St Cuthbert's Way. The gusty wind was ferocious on the way up, and we had to fight against it. It would be even worse at the top of the track, we thought, but were pleasantly surprised. The wind must have been funnelling through Monday Clough rather than gusting over the hill, and on the top it was relatively calm. It was a very clear afternoon (though you wouldn't know it from the Blip) and the views from St Cuthbert's way were amazing. The sea in the photo is over 12 miles away.
No red squirrels today, but walking through the Common on the way home we stood a while watching a young roe deer crossing the road to graze on the other side. It was very close and quite oblivious to our presence, and I regretted putting the camera back in the bag 2 minutes earlier! Daren't get that or my phone out for fear of frightening off the deer.
A couple of hours' cleaning and tidying when we got home, in preparation for a viewing tomorrow, then a meal at the local pub. Shattered!
