La Fete des Rois

Tonight I went into London to my French Circle group to celebrate (belatedly) La Fete des Rois - the Festival of the Kings (French Twelfth Night).
We had a quiz and a buffet. The buffet ended with sharing a sweet galette. Inside one portion there was a 'bean' and whoever got the bean was crowned the Roi or Reine (King or Queen). The King or Queen chose a Consort and together they distributed small presents to us, their subjects. We each took a small wrapped present for this purpose. It was an enjoyable evening made all the better by being on the winning quiz team.
