Just one photo again today. The process of making this bread was slightly chaotic, and the dough ended up spending many days in the fridge, but it turned out OK in the end.

To the Chai in Capendu this evening to see Tant bien que mal, a one-woman show by Marie-Magdeleine (previously seen here). I booked it solely on the strength of the tour de force of the previous show. She researches and writes all her own material -- the show, like the previous one, is based on personal experience.

Here she plays eight or maybe nine characters (I lost count), in the story of a large family coming to terms with the suicide of one of its members. She is dressed in plain black and there is no set and no props, just a drummer providing sound effects such as door knocks, birdsong, wind, and cat meows. For an hour and a half she switches between characters in a split second with just gestures, tone and pitch of voice, posture, and facial expression. Sulky teenagers, gruff dad, long-suffering mother, bewildered children, sententious granny. It's astonishing  and she deserved the sustained applause at the end.

If you can follow rapidly spoken French, here's an interview with Marie-Magdeleine featuring some scenes from the show.
