Gull Wing Fighter
To Fishers Green again this evening to check on my grebes.
It was pouring with rain so I sat in the hide for a while and got some indistinct shots of warblers. The rain didn't abate so I headed towards the nest. I stopped on the way and sheltered under a tree opposite a series of posts in the lake. There is a constant fight between the resident black-headed gulls and the newly arrived terns for these perches, as there is for nesting sites. My pic shows an angry black-headed gull.
The grebe was still sitting. I was angry with myself for not having taken my macro lens with me. I saw drenched butterflies and mayflies and a positive plague of slugs and snails.
