Kent / APS
I had to collect the keys to the flat from the estate agents this morning so that I could be there at eleven to show the assessor 'round. Having been led by the agent to believe it was utter carnage within, I decided to pop 'round to the flat beforehand and, actually, it was fine. There is flood damage, of course, and damaged ceilings etc from the burst pipe but, really, nothing anywhere as bad as what I'd been led to believe.
Consequently, when I went back later to meet the assessor, I was feeling pretty chipper, and my good mood was not dented by meeting him, as he was a friendly and interesting chap. His degree was in forensic science, and although I would never have thought of it, that must be a good grounding for an insurance assessor.
Once he was done, I walked the keys back to the estate agents and then returned to the flats to collect my car. My route took me over Strammongate Bridge, which crosses the Kent, and I was reminded how, during the time I had my one and only contract in Kendal, in the late nineties, I bought an APS camera, and I used to take a photo a day. Prehistoric* Blipping! And I remember taking pretty much exactly this shot.
The other nice thing, today, was looking around the upstairs flat, which was the one we lived in when Charlie was born. I'd forgotten just how nice it was. I wish I could keep it!
*well, it was between 1997 and 1999.
