Moine Mhor

This has been a dreadful day weather wise. The drive down here had rain, wind, then hailstones so heavy the roads were covered at least an inch thick (I saw at least one van off the road and down a bank) and this was accompanied with spectacular and deafening thunder and lightning.

The lightning continued while I was on site but thankfully without the heavy precipitation.

This is on my way home having just crossed over the Crinan Canal. at the Bellanoch swing bridge. Moine Mor (Big Moss or bog) is an apt name for this bit of landscape. It is flat and low. A quick scan of the OS map indicates hundreds of acres without a contour. A modest rise in sea levels could see this disappear. I'm sure it excellent habitat for some species.
