Missy’s Poor Toe

Friday the 13th. Ya know, I’ve never been superstitious. Never believed in any of the Friday the 13th being a cursed day stuff…well until now! Today could have been worse, but it sure could have been better too! Started off by losing power at work, which isn’t a HUGE deal, but Med Surg & the ER get most of the generator power as those departments are the most critical. Our imaging equipment can’t run off generator so everything gets shut down at the breaker which is a whole process. Power was only out for a couple of hours, then life resumed as normal. At around 3:00 this afternoon, one of our freshman X-ray students and my coworker, Missy, went to do a portable X-ray in the ER. When they returned Missy seemed to be in some pain…it wasn’t until 30 minutes later, when the student left, that the story came out. The student had ran over Missy’s pinky toe with the portable!! Her poor toe was all black & blue, and incredibly swollen. She had to submit an incident report & be seen by an ER doctor. The doc ordered X-rays (which I took for her) and low & behold, her little toe was broken :( the day started off on a bad note and ended on one too. Poor Missy :(

It was however, an absolutely hilarious story & we were all laughing so hard. Monday should be interesting.
