Bookends
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,
Today was our last day in Papamoa. Feefs's back was still really painful for her, but she kindly drove us out to the airport after making us breakfast.
And so it was all over - this little sojourn into Caro's past, meeting up with people she hasn't seen for years and years. But now it was all at an end and - WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF???
"Caroline??" said JJ.
It's about four and a half years since Caro has seen JJ, one of her oldest friends who IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIVING IN SYDNEY.
But she was in Tauranga on a flying visit - just on her way back to Wellington on yes, the exact same flight as us. The pair were soon chatting up a storm, trying to squish in all of their news and updates before the flight was called.
"I've got a brainwave," I suggested. Not that it was easy to interrupt this torrent of chat. "Why doesn't JJ switch seats with me and you two can have an hour together?"
This seemed to suit them both as JJ had to dash off and there was no scope for catching up once we were all back in Wellington.
And so that's what happened. We left JJ at the airport with plans being laid for her to visit us in Paraparaumu and/or us going to her in Sydney.
It was the perfect bookend to a weekend all about Caro connecting with people who love her.
Long ago, it must be

They're all that's left you.
