Flamengo Football Match and Coincidences

Back blip

A different Sunday for us today. No hippy market visit as Bb was going to the Flamengo football match at Maracana stadium and we didn't want to risk being stuck in traffic coming back from Ipanema to his meeting point in Copacabana. So, we had a walk locally, a pastei, and then off he went with Sergio, the 'guide' and the other couple who were going - also Scottish by coincidence. 

It was very hot and sunny today (far too hot for me, yes, never happy!!) and so I only walked a few blocks back along the front (with sun cream, of course) and then crossed into the shade. I stopped at La Maison for a drink in the shade of their terrace, then back to the flat where I read for a while, enjoying live whatsapp updates from Bb, including one of him in his new Flamengo shirt! After the match, I walked along to meet him and the Scottish couple (David and Lisa from Falkirk) on the terrace of Bar Restaurant 420.  Another coincidence is that they're going to Iguaçu after Rio and staying on the Argentinian side of the Falls and staying in the same hotel as we did when we visited in February 2012! 

I took my blip on the walk along the front after leaving Bb to go off to Maracana. The hoses cool the sand down to let people walk down onto the beach.
