Island Main Line
The Isle of Wight used to have five or six railway lines.
Now there is a 5 mile heritage steam line (great first class carriages from mid 1800s) on a bit of the old central line plus a 'mainline' train from Shanklin to the end of Ryde Pier to meet the high speed catamaran from Portsmouth.
This line uses very old ex London Underground trains. Here is the complex control system.
Two controls, one instrument:
Go faster/slower
Dead-man's handle
Speedo
