Queen Mary 2 arrives in Greenock
As I dropped my daughter off at work this morning I did not expect to see the arrival of the luxury liner Queen Mary 2 as she was turning to berth at Greenock Ocean Terminal.
Queen Mary 2 is the biggest cruise ship ever to visit the Clyde. When built in France in 2003, the Queen Mary 2 - flagship of the Cunard Line - was the longest, widest and tallest passenger ship ever built. She replaced the Clydebank-built Queen Elizabeth 2 as the company's flagship on its retiral in 2004.
The Queen Mary 2 is 1,132-foot-long and can take 2,620 passengers and has 1,253 officers and crew on board. Previous passengers include the Queen and Prince Philip, former Prime Minister Tony Blair and former French president Jacques Chirac.
While I was taking some shots along the Esplanade my wife was talking to a female taxi driver who said "Its lovely hen, but it does nae float ma boat". This brightened up our morning as we made our way to work.
